Every year, the Bahamas loves to start the Fall season right. The Bahamas National Trust is the host to one of the best events to attend when in the Bahamas, the Bahamas National Trust Annual Wine and Art Festival. This Bahamian festival has been going for over 20 years, and is open to the general public as well.
Each year the Bahamas National Trust sponsors the wine and art festival every year in October, with the exception of having to move the festival date in 2012 to November due to Hurricane Sandy. This event is a great way to see a variety of artists that are based in the Bahamas, and see the different styles they have. During the art part of the festival, guests will be able to peruse through different uses of mediums, including photography, oils, pastels, and watercolor. See the many arrangements of tropical themed artworks while sipping on over 50 choices of wines. The Wine and Art Festival is usually in the ballpark of around $20 for the general public, and $15 for Bahamas National Trust Members. Children under the age of 12 are always free.
Other sponsors of the Bahamas National Trust Wine and Art Festival also includes the help from Bristol Wines & Spirits, Scotiabank, Caribbean Bottling for Coca Cola, and Bahamia Rental. Some of the wines that guests can indulge in are Oyster Bay, Concha y Toro, Red Diamond, Antinari, Punto Final, Trivento, and Georges Duboeuf. Featured artists include Vivien Archer, Dion Lewis, Tiffany Barrett, Dawn Hanna, Ferris Kincaid, and John Paul to name just a few. Every year, new artists participate, and the festival has been growing in popularity over the last few years.
Through the years, there has even been some famous furniture artisans/ enthusiasts. Guest will be amazed by the amount of woodworking put into these chairs, desks, and benches by these talented carpenters. Come and appreciate the hard work all of these artists have put in for their passion. BNT’s Wine and Art Festival will usually take place on a Saturday, lasting from 12 noon to 6 p.m. There will be food vendors for local restaurants to give you a taste of the Bahamas local cuisine as well. And the best part about this whole event is that all proceeds support the Bahamas national park system, so visitors are also helping the environment.
