Nassau Bahamas FAQ

Where do cruise ships dock when they arrive in Nassau?

Your ship, like every cruise ship, will dock at Prince George Wharf. Located in downtown Nassau, Prince George Wharf is only a short distance away from great shopping opportunities and many hotels. The Festival Place Welcome Center is right between the docked cruise ships and Nassau city.

What is the purpose of the Festival Place Welcome Center?

The Festival Place Welcome Center is the starting point for cruise ship visitors who pass through to get to Nassau. Here you can get general information about the Bahamas and local attractions. A post office provides full scale mail service and purchase opportunities for local stamps. If you need to use a phone or purchase a phone card, need to use the internet, fax something or send a telegram, visit the Welcome Center's communications center for these and other services. Here you will also find information on ground transportation, taxi and ferry boat services, and ways to rent scooters. You can also browse booths featuring local arts and crafts or have your hair braided!

Where do I go to get a taxi?

As soon as you leave the Festival Place you will see the typical minivan taxis. These cabs can transport up to 12 visitors and prices vary according to destination and number of passengers. Make sure you negotiate on the price and reach an agreement before leaving the taxi stand.

How do I get to the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal?

The terminal is on Paradise Island right between the bridges that lead to and from the island. If your island tour or activity leaves from Paradise Island Ferry Terminal, you will need to take a taxi. The ride from your cruise ship docking area to Island Ferry Terminal takes approximately 5-10 minutes. We recommend allowing time for traffic.

And where do I find Prince George's Wharf?

Prince George's Wharf is right beside your cruise ship dock. Go through the Festival Place Welcome Center and turn right after you exit. Go to Woodes Rogers Walk and passed the carriages and scooter rental stations. Look out for Prince George's Wharf on the right. The Wharf is the starting point for many tour boats and the Paradise Island water taxi also runs from here. There is a Starbucks and a Seņor Frogs restaurant on the other side of the Wharf.

I was told that I will be picked up outside of the cruise ship terminal. Where exactly do I go?

Go through the Festival Place Welcome Center and go left as you exit. Keep walking and look for a green iron fence. Walk along the fence and you will get to a large water fountain. This is the pick-up spot, so just wait here and your activity bus or minivan will come to get you.

I got lost! What do I do now?

No worries! If you are not sure where you are or where you should go, walk into the Festival Place Welcome Center and ask the friendly staff at the help desk. We also recommend that you carry the local contact number with you to be able to call for assistance. You can find it on your booking confirmation.

What do I need to do if my cruise ship is late?

Once you know that your ship won't arrive on time, get in touch with us using the contact information on your booking confirmation. We know that this can happen and we will do our best to change your reservation. In the rare case that we cannot accommodate you and you miss your tour, we will make sure that there is no disadvantage for you.

How much time should I allow for getting off my cruise ship?

Exiting times vary and depend on your ship's cruise line. We recommend allowing for 30-45 minutes. Also try to exit the ship as soon as you can. The security screening of each visitor before disembarking can take a while, so please keep this in mind when you book your tour.
