For authentic and delicious Bahamian cuisine that is considered some of the best in the country, head to a place called The Poop Deck, located at the Nassau Yacht Haven Marina just off the Paradise Island bridge. The Poop Deck offers guests the finest of Bahamian cuisine, with each dish on the menu made with exquisite care and attention to detail. For starters, the restaurant has some of the best conch fritters around (Paula's Conch Fritters) but also try the delicious Bahamian Andros Crab Cakes. Extremely flavorful and sometimes even kind of spicy, the best Bahamian dishes at the Poop Deck are Rosie's Steam Chicken, Mama Mary's Steamed Fish, and the splendid Bahamian Spicy Fried Chicken. There is also daily fresh catches available to be cooked however you would most like. The Poop Deck has plenty of seating that faces the gorgeous marina and while these seats sometimes require a longer wait, they are definitely the best spots in the restaurant.

East Villa Restaurant and Lounge

The East Villa Restaurant and Lounge is considered by many to be the best Chinese restaurant in the Bahamas. The restaurant offers a combination of incredible food and charming, comfortable decor that support its reputation as the best Chinese restaurant in town. It is located just outside of the downtown Nassau and is found in an old Bahamian home that has been converted in this seemingly upscale, but not at all pretentious, local restaurant. And the cuisine is divine! The East Villa Restaurant and Lounge has amazing Chinese dishes that combine the spice of Szechuan cuisine with the less spicy but equally flavorful Cantonese cuisine; think dishes like walnut chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and cubed prime fillet served over vegetables. The place also includes Bahamian influence in their cuisine with dishes such as Bahamian lobster tail, cracked conch, and pan-fried grouper.

Dune

One of the most renowned and highly acclaimed restaurants anywhere in the Bahamas is the Dune Restaurant, located at the luxurious One & Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island. Few other restaurants in the Bahamas offer the spectacular ocean views that Dune does. And few others offer the extremely attentive and professional service that is found at Dune, as well as the elegant and tasteful decor that adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. The dishes at Dune are some of the most unique and eclectic, with chefs using the freshest ingredients possible. There is no such thing as a typical dish at Dune, each one takes a typical dish and turns it into something quite extraordinary. Try the shrimp with orange seasoning and served alongside roasted artichokes and arugula, or the exquisite tuna spring rolls served with soybean salsa. Everything on the Dune menu is amazing, so whatever you get you will be pleased.

Cafe Michel

Located in the famous International Bazaar in Freeport Bahamas, Cafe Michel serves Caribbean and American dishes, a combination that will feel comfortable for North American travelers while simultaneously allowing them to get a taste for the cuisine of the islands.
